This is five days trekking combined with cultural tours for those who want to enjoy trekking in Himalayas. We can make it for three to four days trek as well. We will pass through the village at Genekha, follow Small River through the dense temperate forest, crossing the pass before we end the trek. We see the best of natures, sometime wild animals like Himalayan bear, panda, squirrels, monkeys and plenty of birds. Lets enjoy the combined tours and treks.

Day 1
Arrival in Paro

Flight to Paro offers spectacular views of the Himalayas before it lands in the tiny kingdom. on arrival in Paro international airport, VBT representative will receive you and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, we will proceed to visit national museum of Paro and then to Paro Rimpong Dzong. The day ends with gentle walk down to the parking areas crossing wonderful cantilever bridge built over Paro Chhu. Evening, we will relax in the hotel or scroll around tiny Paro town peeping through local handicrafts. Overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m.

Day 2
Paro sightseeing.

After our delicious breakfast, we will drive to north end of Paro valley and hike to Tiger Nest Temple. Tiger nest is renowned temple in the Buddhist world which ceilings on the vertical cliff 900m above the valley floor. The hike will take about two hours to reach to the top and will warm us for the trekking next day. En-route drive to visit historical drukgyel ruin Dzong and kichu temple praying to bless us for the rest of the journey. Overnight in Paro.

Day 3
Paro – Genekha-Gur (Trek start) 15km, 4 hours.

The trek begins with the little village of Genekha. Today you will see many varieties of alpine flora and also some animals and many birds. After two hours of walking gradually uphill, rest at huge rock platform, from which there is a picturesque view of the valley below. After another two hours the trek ends for the day. Camp at Gur, where flowers are abundant in spring.

Day 4
Gur – Tshotsekha, distance: 12 km, Walking time: 8 hours, Sleeping altitude: 2900m, Pass to cross: Dolungghu, 4500m.

Early morning enjoy the lifetime experience to witness the morning sun touch the third highest peak of the world, Mt. Kanchenjunga and also the highest peak of Bhutan, Mt. Jumolhari. After breakfast, hike straight uphill to get better view of the entire Bhutanese chain of mountain peaks. Hike till the ridge of Dolungghu to get the entire 360’ view and also Labathama, the valley of Yak Harder’s. After lunch trace your path back to the bridge, Genezampa, 2850 m. After crossing back the bridge, follow the fiddle road towards north till you reach the village of Zamto and to Tshotsekha.

Day 5
Tshotsekha – Japhula. Distance: 12 km, Walking time: 8 hours, Sleeping altitude: 3300m.

Today’s hike is one of the easiest day of the trek just following the valley towards north and the small river. Crossing the ancient village of Tshotshekha. Camp just below Japhula pass.

Day 6
Japhula – Cherigang. Distance: 10 km, Walking time: 5 hours, Sleeping altitude: 3500m, Pass to cross: Japhula, 4185m.

The trail starts with gentle climb following the valley which slowly opens up as you start climbing the pass. Lunch in Japhula pass. After the lunch, the trail is all down hill with magnificent landscape view. As you descent down you will realize how fast the vegetation changes. Camp by the big ground offering magnificent view of the northern ranges of Bhutanese mountains.

Day 7
Cherigang – Thimphu (Trek end). Distance: 6 km, Walking time: 3 hours.

Morning enjoy the sunrise view over the mountain peaks. After breakfast descend down through the mixed vegetation, finally reaching the main motorable road of Chamgang village. Our transport will be waiting for us. Bid farewell to the trekking staffs and the ponies. Drive to Thimphu in time for lunch. Overnight in Thimphu

Day 8
Thimphu sightseeing

In the morning, we will visit handmade paper mill, School of Arts and crafts (closed on Sundays, government holidays) where students learn 13 different arts used predominantly in Bhutan. We will also visit to enjoy archery match and national library before lunch. After lunch, drive pass by memorial chorten built in memory of the 3rd King. Visit Buddha viewpoint, Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, enclosure where national animal, Takin are kept and Zilukha Nunnery. Overnight in Thimphu

Day 9
Thimphu – Paro (1.2 hrs).

After the breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and retrace the drive to Paro. On arrival in Paro we will visit National Museum, the first of its kind which has a collection from natural history to religious paintings. Visit 17 century Paro Dzong (Fortress) on foot and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use. Evening stroll old Paro town and peep into some local handicraft stores or we will provide the options to enjoy other activities while in Paro. Overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m

Day 10
Departure.

The tour will end today morning after boarding your flight to back home, you will carry smile on your face, eyes full of tears and memories unlimited. Say goodbye to our staffs at the airport with the prayers of save journey and to see you again in future.
